I am a journalist working on a piece about the issues for Swedes obtaining passport appointments at the Swedish Embassy in London.

I would like to know, for the period 1st July 2022 - 1st November 2022:

How many appointments have been added to the online booking system.
How many passports have been issued.
It says that appointments are added "continuously." I would like to understand what this means, so please let me know at what dates and times appointments are added.

Appointments for passports and coordination numbers (samordningsnummer)

• Due to the extremely high demand, the appointments are quickly
booked. If no times are shown in the calendar which, unfortunately,
means that we are fully booked. If a customer cancels their
appointment, that slot will then be released in the calendar and can
be booked by another customer.
• High demand for slots can lead to technical problems. Please ensure
you have received a booking confirmation code before attending the

Embassy. We are open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between

The Embassy does not issue any certificates to guarantee entry into Sweden
and cannot give indications as to which documentation the Swedish Police
Authority may approve. This is because the Police Authority assesses entry
on a case-by-case basis upon arrival in Sweden and does not provide any
individual approval prior to entry.

New rules for coordination numbers from 1 January 2022

Coordination numbers now expire after 5 years. For more information,

that you always inform the Swedish Tax Agency of your new contact address

Dear Adam,

The Embassy has changed the routine of publishing passport appointments. When we published time slots at certain well known times, the booking system (provided by the Migration Board) used to crash due to the amount of people entering at the same time.
The new routine Is more time consuming for us, but it keeps the system working.

There is no information available about how many appointments have been added to the system during the period between 1st of July 2022 and 1st November 2022 as time slots are being added for some time ahead and no record is being kept of the exact time the slots were published.

The information I can give you is that between the months of July and the 1st of November, the Embassy issued 1800 ordinary passports, temporary passports and National ID-cards.

The issuing of a passport is one routine, and the receiving, registering and handing out the issued passport is another, which is also time consuming.

The Embassy handed out 4100 passports in the same period, of which many were issued by other authorities (the Police in Sweden or other Embassies).

This Embassy handle more passports than any other Swedish Embassy in the world. This is what we manage with the available resources. We are constantly in discussion with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm about the need for more resources.
